Heartburn Treatment That You Can Do At Home

Heartburn Treatment
A lot of people all over the world have problems with heartburn. Some people tend to think that there is nothing they can do about it. Of course, this could not be further from the truth. In fact, by changing a few things that you do, you can possibly cure your heartburn without having to take any kind of medication. It always seems better to let nature take its course than to have to take medication. So if you are able to stop heartburn naturally, why not give it a try? The next time you are having heartburn, or if you want to avoid the heartburn all together, try a few of these heartburn treatments that you can do at home by yourself.

First, and the one that makes the most sense, would be changing what you eat. Do not eat foods that are high in acid like grapefruits, oranges, and even tomatoes. Although they are good for you, they are bad for your heartburn. Also, you are going to have to lay off the spicy foods. This would included foods that have a lot of chilies and peppers in it. If you can help it, try not to eat things that are high in fat, like fried foods. You should also try to avoid chocolate and things that are peppermint flavored. Of course, foods are not the only thing to watch out for, you also need to watch what you drink. Too much juice, beer, wine, coffee, or any carbonated drinks can cause the stomach acid to act up. Some things that you should eat are foods that are low in fat. You should also increase the amount of foods that you eat that have protein. These are just a few ways that you can help keep your heartburn in check with what you eat. Of course, there are more tips coming up.

The next thing that you should do to avoid heartburn is to take pressure off your stomach. Think of your stomach like a tube of toothpaste. As you mash on one end of the tube, it makes toothpaste come out the other end. As you put pressure on your stomach, you make acid come up the wrong way. Avoid things that have tight waistbands and tight belts. This also includes the hip huger jeans that all the girls are wearing today. Also, when you sleep at night try putting things under your mattress to make you bend at the waist. Do not use pillows under your head to try and wedge your body up. This is because you will just end up bending at the neck and not the waist, and this could just make your heartburn ten times worse. As funny as it might sound, do not lay on your right side, try laying on your left. Last but not least, do not bend at the hips to pick something up, try bending at the knees. This way you do not double over on yourself.

Also, something that may cause heartburn is some of the drugs you may be taking. If you are having heartburn, do not take aspirin or a drug that is like it. This can irritate your esophagus and your stomach, and make your heartburn even more worse than it has ever been. Also, do not take anti-acids with drugs like aspirin. This can cause a very unhappy effect on your body. Never lay down when you are swallowing pills or food of any kind. This is because as the food enters into the lower part of the esophagus, the door must open up to let the food (or pill) in. When this happens this can cause the stomach acid to flow up the esophagus because you were laying down. At all cost, do not use tobacco products or be around people that smoke. The tobacco that is in these products (as well as the smoke) causes a relative effect on the door that opens and closes at the bottom of the esophagus. Thus this will cause it not to close all the way. Then you are allowing the stomach acid to have a way to come out of the stomach and up into another area of your body. This is the whole thing that you are trying to avoid. As you can see, there are lots of things that you can do that can help with heartburn treatment at home.
